This documentary photo essay explores how unprecedented access to social media and mobile connectivity is actively reshaping fertility preferences, family planning perspectives, and sexual health education among young people in urban and peri-urban sub-Saharan Africa.

While the region historically features elevated youth fertility metrics, a quiet digital revolution is unfolding. Moving past traditional, top-down public health messaging, youth are actively leveraging platforms like WhatsApp, YouTube, and TikTok to bypass community taboos, address misinformation, and advocate for reproductive autonomy.

This project moves past clinical statistics to visualize the everyday intersection of the digital landscape and the personal lived realities of the continent’s youngest generation
