'At This Point' explores the fragile moments that exist at the end of teenage times to the start of young adulthood among the youths in Kibera. It is a critical visual display of the decisions made by these young men and why they make them. The project encompasses the grim realities of present-day slum life. The meeting of several tribal communities is rearranging the traditional mode of life among the slum dwellers. All these for better or worse are leading this community into bewildering new paths. The resulting culture from this transition is breeding new feelings of anxiety and restlessness among families allowing an openly, unrestricted movement of young boys and girls. The outcome of this sometimes does lead to negative social issues including, early teenage pregnancies, increasing involvement in drug use, and young love. It is easily recognizable that the political-economic planning hasn't lived to the expectations. The decision these young people make amidst the situation is at the core of this series. Their decision to have children, the role their family members/guardians play in their lives. And how dependency, cultural background, and young love often leads them to make certain kinds of decision that will shape their next lives. (ongoing project...)
